Forest of the Future

From Indonesian forest to lasting remembrance

A 4-year CSR project in which we ethically extract petrified wood in Indonesia, craft it into memorials, and communicate transparently about every step.

What do we do in Indonesia?

In Indonesia we extract and process petrified wood into unique memorials — with respect for people, nature and local communities.

Petrified wood forms when trees were buried under volcanic material millions of years ago. The wood fossilises into a hard, unique material with rich colours and tree rings that tell the story of our planet.

In our workshop in West Java, a team of more than ten local artisans works under fair wages and safe conditions. They transform the extracted wood into high-quality memorials shipped to the Netherlands.

The project started in 2024 with a subsidy from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and runs for four years. This website documents our progress, milestones and impact.
